Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to drive sustainable development by optimizing resource utilization, enhancing environmental monitoring, and supporting smart city initiatives. This paper reviews the intersection of AI and sustainability, highlighting key applications in energy management, waste reduction, and climate modeling. We discuss challenges such as the environmental impact of AI technologies, data accessibility, and the digital divide. The review emphasizes the need for interdisciplinary collaboration to harness AI’s capabilities while minimizing its negative effects, aiming to align technological advancements with global sustainability goals.
